A. Elohim: Used 2,570 times, it refers to Yah's power and might. (Gen
1:1; Psm19:1)
B. El: Four compounds of His name. There are two significant places
where this name was used in the Old
Testament. One came from the lips of Jerusalem's first sovereign, and
the other from history's first sinner.
1. Elyon: The Most High mighty One.
a. Jerusalem's first sovereign, Melchizedek. (Gen 14:17-20)
b. History's first sinner, Satan. (Isa 14:13,14)
2. Roi: The mighty one who sees. (Gen 16:13)
3. Shaddai: The Almighty One. Used 48 times in the Old Testament. (Gen
17:1; Psa 91:1)
4. Olam: The everlasting ELOHIM . (Isa 40:28-31)
C. Adoni: Master. ELOHIM owns all creation (Mal 1:6). The Hebrew Old
Testament name Adonai
1. The master has a right to expect obedience. (Gen 24:1-12)
2. The slave may expect provision. (Phil 4:19)
D.. YHWH . Elohim 's most common name. It occurs 6,823 times. The
self-existent One, the Elohim of the covenant (Gen 2:4).

Nine compound names of YHWH are:
1. Yireh: YHWH will provide. (Gen 22:13-14)
2. Nissi: YHWH , my Banner. (Ex 17:15)
3. Shalom: YHWH is peace. (Judges 6:24)
4. Sabaoth: YHWH of hosts. (Isa 6:3)
5. Maccaddeschcem: YHWH thy Sanctifier (Ex31:13)
6. Rohi (Raah): YHWH our Shepherd. (Ps 23.1)
7. Tsidkenu: YHWH our Righteousness. (Jer 23:6)
8. Shammah: YHWH who is present. (Ez 48:35)
